LAKELAND — Bill Castle ended his career as a Lakeland football coach after 52 years, the past 47 as head coach, but his announcement didn't end the honors.Castle, on Friday, was named the 2023 Florida Dairy Farmers Football Coach of the Year following a final round of voting by a statewide panel of high school football coaches and media representatives. He becomes the first three-time winner of the state Coach of the Year award. He also won in 1998 and 2004.In 2022, Castle led the Dreadnaughts to a 14-0 record and the Class 4S state championship with a win over Venice in the final.
